Type Hike is a collaborative non-profit design project that celebrates and supports the outdoors through typography. It was created by David Rygiol and James Walker. The project was born from the belief that all designers are obligated to use their talent and ability to make the world a more beautiful place.
The project began in 2016 with a series of 60 designs celebrating the National Park Service centennial anniversary in August. This series has been exhibited in galleries across the country and added to the permanent collection of the Library of Congress.
100% of the profits from the shop will be donated to help protect and preserve the outdoors. Depending on the specific purchase, the amount donated is between 30%-70%. Here is a history of our annual donations:
12/2016 - $5,000 donated to the National Park Foundation
4/2018 - $3,000 donated to Defenders of Wildlife
12/2018 - $3,000 donated to Space Camp
3/2019 - $8,000 donated to The Gateway Arch Park Foundation
2/2020 - $1,900 donated to the National Park Foundation
